These tortilla wraps are fantastic for a quick lunch on the go. Make a batch in the morning and take them with you with a packed salad for a fabulous and easy salad wrap!

I also love using these for a tortilla pizza lunch - spread on some pizza sauce, sprinkle on some cheese, add your toppings and pop under the grill for a few minutes until the cheese is lovely and melty. Delicious!

Ingredients

  • 250 g plain flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 40 g sunflower oil
  • 100 g lukewarm water

Instructions

  1. Place the plain flour, salt, oil and water in the mixing bowl. Knead 1 Min. / Kneading Function. Remove and transfer onto a floured surface. Cover with a bowl and leave to rest for 10 minutes. Then, divide into 6 pieces and shape each piece into a ball.

  2. Heat a large non stick frying pan or cast iron skillet to medium heat and roll out one tortilla into a large circle about 15-20cm diameter. Fry on one side for 30 seconds, then flip over and fry on the other side for another 30 seconds while pressing the tortilla down with your spatula. Roll out and fry the remaining tortillas until they are all cooked. Place them on a small plate and stack up so they keep each other soft and warm.

  3. You can use them straight away or as part of a tortilla pizza lunch.

What other oils can be used besides sunflower oil?

      Any oil you like. 🙂

Hello Sophia, I enjoy your recipes greatly! Only I have been unable to make a decent rye sourdough (I will keep trying though). Anyways, this tortilla wrap recipe hit very close to home. I am Kenyan and this is what we call “chapati” in the Eas African region. We eat with any type of stew that would go with rice. I especially enjoy it with dry fried kale (sukuma wiki) and dry fried goat meat. I am now hungry

Can you substitute oil to olive oil?

    Hi, Sophia.
These look great! How can we store them (how long do they keep) and can they be frozen?

    • Sophia H Sophia H on March 11, 2020 at 8:52 am

They can be frozen or wrapped in food wrap in the fridge for up to 3 days.

We haven’t been able to buy wraps for a few weeks here in Hong Kong. So I tried your recipe out tonight & the kids loved them. At their request I have made more for tomorrow. I couldn’t believe how quick and easy they were to make. Thank you!

I’m looking forward to trying these tomorrow. Any suggestions on how to add spinach to them – I have both fresh and frozen, but not sure how much I should add, or if I’d need to increase the flour a little…?
